Double Membrane Press
The Double Membrane vacuum press is used where pressure must be applied
to both sides of a formed panel such as a moulded door or where a shaped or
curved panel currently needs a support tool.
Parts can be placed directly on the bottom membrane using a breather cloth
which protects the membrane from sharp edges and helps ensure good vacuum
extraction.
We have recently introduced a new press for customers looking to produce
panels quickly using a Hot Melt Adhesive. The machine uses the double
diaphragm system to rapidly apply pressure to both sides of the panel.
Panel flatness is maintained by our automatically controlled machine bed
which lowers the panel to the optimum height between membranes.
The operation of the press is fully automatic, started by the operator once
he is clear of the safety mats. The top membrane is first lowered
hydraulically and controlled proportionally to allow for a quick smooth
motion. The bed lowers and as soon as the top membrane is in position
the vacuum automatically starts and pulls to the correct level. The
panel is held under vacuum for less then 15 seconds, which is adjustable to
suit the adhesive , and then released. As the top membrane opens the
bed raises to present the finished bonded panel at an ergonomic height.
Double Membrane Presses can be supplied as fully or semi automatic machines
for making a multitude of panels and eliminate much of the bulky tooling
once required.
